Now our elders and betters have discovered it takes more than a few people on stilts and a samba band to make a Capital of Culture, maybe they will bring their heads out of the clouds and start to address the problems of restoring what little culture we still have, for instance renovating the crumbling Embassy Court and doing something - anything - about the West Pier.
It has been shown in other cities that some startling modern architecture brings in the visitors, so how about allowing a contemporary architect such as Zaha Hadid, yet to build in this country, loose on our town - er... city?
And how about some affordable housing for Brighton and Hove's artists before the migration to Hastings becomes an exodus?
