It strikes me as quite odd that a town such as Worthing should be a "late developer" in the broadband revolution.
Worthing is frequently cited as one of the best business centres in the South yet, according to BT, demand for broadband internet access has not risen to a level that would warrant the upgrading of some of our local telephone exchanges.
However, anyone having seen the recent television advertising will be aware BT is now actively promoting broadband internet access and inviting people to register their interest via its web site.
Can I urge the residents of Worthing to take BT up on its offer and register with the site? BT has promised that any local exchange receiving between 300 and 500 registrants will be duly upgraded.
The site allows the tracking of any particular exchange to see how many registrations it has received. For example, my own exchange at Swandean currently has 159 registrants of a required 300.
Come on, people, let's not get left behind. The web site is www.bt.com/broadband
