Albion centre of excellence pair Lee Bryant and Matt Foreman have been selected for England trials.

Defender Bryant and striker Foreman are hoping to impress in the under-14s age group at Lilleshall next week.

Bryant, 12, a pupil at Downlands (Hassocks), was spotted a year ago playing Sunday Youth League football with Hassocks Juniors by Albion director of football Martin Hinshelwood.

Both players are in the Albion under-13s team.

Under-13s coach Luke Sadler said: "Lee is a big lad. His learning curve in a short space of time has been tremendous. He is a good listener and has natural ability.

"Matt is capable of scoring three or four a week and is not a selfish player.

"He has come on well since he joined us.

"The school and their families should feel proud of them. It is not every day youngsters get a chance to get into an England squad.

"They have got a chance of doing well but there will be youngsters from Premiership clubs there too.

"Players like Ryan Giggs and Michael Owen came through playing for England in the schoolboy age groups.

"It will be a good experience for them whatever happens.

Bryant, from Hurstpierpoint, said: "Matt and I were called into Martin Hinshelwood's office during training and told.

"My reaction was disbelief. He said there was no pressure on us and to go there and enjoy it.

"I am quite tall for my age but I seem to be growing up instead of outward and I want to put on a bit of weight.

Bryant joined Albion in April after playing for Hassocks since he was eight years old.

He said: "I love it at Albion. They have got good coaches."

Downlands spokesman Tom Martin revealed Bryant has been asked for his autograph at school.

Martin said: "His peers think his signature might be valuable in a few years."
