It looks as though the brewers are at it again by making the second price increase on beer in six months, by up to 13p a pint.
This will be reflected in the bar price once VAT and other extras are added to the tune of about 20p a pint.
There are enough pubs in the Brighton and Hove area that don't open in the morning now (one I know even stays closed on Sundays) and I presume this reflects the lack of trade. This will be the death of the brewers in the long run.
About 30 years ago, I said what few breweries we will have left will tell you what to drink and where to drink it. It is about time the Chancellor, Gordon Brown, imposed his ultimate weapon on these people by applying a "windfall tax" on their profits. Go get 'em, Gordon.
