A town centre night club in Eastbourne could be transformed into a church youth club and place of worship.
The 19th Century building in Seaside Road was converted into a cabaret night club in the early Nineties from the Tivoli cinema.
Eastbourne Borough Council has been asked for permission to turn it into a youth club and place of worship for use by Sovereign Church.
It would provide facilities such as snooker, table tennis, skateboarding and computers for youngsters from 11 to 17.
Only one letter of complaint was received, which cited fears of anti-social behaviour and increased noise.
However, in a report to the borough council's planning and licensing committee, council officers recommend approval.
They said: "The proposed use would not affect the rights of nearby residents to the enjoyment of possessions and protection of property."
The committee meets at the town hall in Grove Road on Tuesday from 4.30pm.
