Funk and breakbeat or UK garage and soul, here are our recommendations for the week's most happening dancefloors.

Phonic Hoop, Enigma, Brighton, October 5
Will Holland, aka Quantic, has enjoyed a great summer following the launch of his second album, Apricot Morning.

The Brighton funkster returns to the "Hoop" this month, armed only with a box of records, to wage a musical war on Tru Thoughts label mates The Limp Twins.

Observers should expect large quantities of funk 45s and some heavy jazzbreaks.

The night runs from 10pm to 2am, admission is £7 (£6 members). Call 01273 328439.

TwiceAsNice, Creation, Brighton, October 9
TwiceasNice's midweek mix of UK Garage, Soul and R'n'B makes a welcome return to Brighton on October 9 with a launch party for the MOBO 2002 album at Creation.

The highlight of the evening will be a live performance by R'n'B sensation Lisa Roxanne, who will be singing her hit singles Love Story and No Flow.

The night runs from 10pm to 3am, admission is £5 before 11pm. Call 01273 321628.
