A major West Sussex road was closed for more than four hours after a crash between a car and a crane.
Fire crews had to use cutting equipment to free the driver of the car who was trapped by his legs.
The motorist was taken to hospital with severe injuries after being released by firefighters.
The accident happened on the A29 outside Pulborough yesterday at 2.40pm.
Police closed a section of the road for more than four hours, causing long traffic delays in the area.
The road, which is the main route through to Bognor, was reopened shortly before 7pm last night after a detailed accident investigation was completed by officers.
