Two of Albion's new signings play in the reserves on Wednesday night hoping to fight their way into Martin Hinshelwood's team for Saturday's crunch game at Watford.

Guy Butters and John Piercy will use the midweek fixture against Swindon in the Avon Insurance Combination League at Worthing (7pm kick-off) to prove their fitness.

Former Gillingham centre half Butters was dropped last week while fellow signing John Piercy missed the Grimsby defeat with a leg injury following his move from Spurs.

Meanwhile, Paul Kitson is hoping to get the all-clear following a further medical check on his back injury The recurring back problem has restricted the former West Ham front man to four appearances.

Hinshelwood is desperate to partner Kitson with loan signing Graham Barrett and the fit again Bobby Zamora in a three-pronged strike force he hopes will launch an Albion comeback.

"He is seeing a specialist and we are hoping he is given the all-clear," Hinshelwood said. "Hopefully he will join in training again on Thursday and we will be looking for him to be involved at Nottingham Forest on October 12.

"If that is called off for international call-ups then we might try to arrange a game that weekend."
