The Argus has paid a £1,000 reward following the jailing for life of one of Brighton and Hove's most wanted criminals.

The money and £1,000 from Sussex Police was put up for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Sean Donoher.

A cheque was presented yesterday by The Argus crime reporter Phil Mills to Chief Superintendent Doug Rattray, head of Brighton and Hove police.

The money was paid to an anonymous informant who helped lead police to where Donoher, 37, was hiding.

Mr Rattray thanked The Argus and said: "I am delighted with the successful outcome of the investigation.

"Donoher was committing a lot of crime and was potentially very dangerous. He was causing a lot of fear and alarm in the community."

Donoher, a former Big Issue seller, used knives and an imitation gun to terrorise shop staff over three months to feed his £50-a-day drug habit.

He admitted five armed robberies on off-licences in the city and asked for four more to be considered when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court.

He had previously been jailed for the manslaughter of a man outside a soup kitchen in St Leonards.
