Kings of the wrestling ring will throw their weight around for The Argus Appeal this month.

A star-studded programme has been lined up for Hove's biggest night of wrestling for almost a decade.

The show will include tag team and solo matches and the climax of the evening will be a battle for The Argus King of the Ring Trophy.

The show at Hove Town Hall on October 10 marks the 15th anniversary of the first night of The Argus Appeal, which was then the Evening Argus Appeal.

That event was held at the same venue and attracted 1,000 people. Some of the biggest stars in wrestling will be at the latest event, being sponsored on behalf of the appeal.

Among the stars appearing now will be Britain's current No. 1, Doug Williams, aka The Anarchist, who will be jetting back from the United States, where he is in big demand.

The line-up also includes PWF title-holders The Superflys, Rowdy Ricky Knight and his son Roy, Flash Barker, Jace the Ace and Destroyer Lee Darren, plus a colourful Canadian star known as The Sexy Monkey.

The will be championship, tag team and solo matches, with the climax of the evening being an American Battle Royal when all the wrestlers enter the ring, and the last man left standing is declared the King of the Ring.

There will also be a raffle, with all the money raised being donated to the appeal.

Tickets are available from Hove Town Hall or the Brighton Centre Box Office.

Anyone who wants to sponsor one of the bouts on the programme on behalf of the appeal can contact Elsa Gillio, The Argus Appeal co-ordinator, Argus House, Crowhurst Road, Brighton BN1 8AR, phone 01273 544465, fax 01273 544723 or email elsa.keith@virgin.net
