Detectives are investigating after a man was hit on the head with a hammer in a robbery at a newsagent's shop in Eastbourne.
The 46-year-old victim needed treatment for cuts to his forehead after the raid at Haffendens in Pembury Road yesterday morning.
A man and a woman were seen fleeing the scene. Police believe they turned right into Sevenoaks Road before running up Wrotham Close.
A police spokesman said: "A quantity of cash was among the items seized by the offenders."
Officers believe the woman was aged 14-16, 5ft to 5ft 2in tall, of slight build, wearing jogging bottoms and a red top.
She had a stocking over her head and a long blonde ponytail.
Her companion was in his late 20s, slim, 6ft tall, with short black hair. He was unshaven, had an earring in his left ear, and wore a dark jumper and dark coat with the hood up.
Police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
