Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver got a tasty treat when he turned up for a book signing in Sussex.

He tucked into a smoked salmon bagel specially prepared for him for the occasion.

The TV star signed copied of his latest book, Jamie's Kitchen, at the Old Market centre in Upper Market Street, Hove.

Sharon Gordon, owner of the nearby Sanctuary Cafe, was asked to come up with a snack to tickle the TV cook's taste buds.

She said: "I decided to make him a smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese, black pepper and lemon juice.

"Smoked salmon is popular with most people and the black pepper and lemon give it an extra zing.

"Jamie was not interested in having a glass of champagne with it as he enjoys a simple glass of mineral water."

When Jamie arrived, two over-enthusiastic fans who had been calling out "I love you Jamie" had to be moved on by security guards for being disruptive.

City Books partner Inge Sweetman said: "They were milling around. They were making an awful lot of noise for two men.

"Security had it under control and Jamie took it all in his stride."
