Regarding the photo of postmen wearing Christmas casuals (The Argus Weekend, September 14), those in ordinary civilian clothes were temporary postmen, employed solely for the Christmas period to deal with the extra mail generated at that time.
They were issued with armbands, as could be seen on the right of the photo.
