Having attended all six demonstrations against Zippos Circus over the past two weeks, it was interesting to note the reaction of people who turned up with their tickets unaware that Zippos had performing-animal acts.

They honestly thought animal circuses were banned in Brighton and Hove and felt uneasy about going into the show.

Indeed, it was great to see people taking a moral stand and walking away in disgust at being hoodwinked.

It begs the question as to why, if having performing horses is so important to this circus in drawing members of the public to its big top, Zippos cannot be open enough to feature the horses on its posters?

The simple truth is that more and more people realise the lifestyle of any animals used in circuses is unnatural and is unjustifiable as a means of entertainment.

The sooner Brighton and Hove City Council catches up with this message and bans all animal circuses from publicly-owned land, the better.
