Hundreds of young people are preparing to celebrate the opening of one of the biggest arts festivals in the South.
Artwave, Lewes District Council's month-long festival of the visual arts, will be launched on Friday, August 30.
The festival begins in Lewes with Youthwave, an opportunity for young artists to showcase their talents.
Since its launch in 1994, Artwave has grown from a seven-day event involving a handful of artists to one of the biggest celebrations of the visual arts in the region.
This year's festival involves hundreds of local artists exhibiting in nearly 80 different venues across the district.
Youthwave will bring the town to a standstill with the top half of Lewes High Street closed from 6pm to 10pm for a children's procession.
The YMCA will host a programme of youth dance, flamenco and jazz dance followed by films made by young film-makers working at the centre.
There will be street dance demonstrations, music by youth band Starfish and a half-pipe skateboard ramp in the Gun Garden at Lewes Castle.
The finale to the street programme will be a 45-minute performance by Big Sugah.
