"We need a massive recycling campaign," says Councillor Joyce Edmund Smith (Letters, August 15).

I agree and so would all conscientious recyclers. What is Brighton and Hove City Council going to do about providing the set-up she describes?

My family is fed up with advice on how to do our bit.

There is nothing else we can do. We have two compost bins, a shed stacked with bags of cans, plastic bottles, glass, cardboard, a drawer full of paper to re-use and, now, a black box.

Yet when we get to Withdean Stadium to bin it, the bins are overflowing and we have to make the rounds of recycling sites to find space. Where are the bins in Brighton and Hove to recycle plastic and white and coloured paper?

Luckily, I work in Lewes and I can find both types there.

Millions of people care about our environment and want to play their part but are frustrated by the lack of infrastructure.

The old argument that some types of recycling are uneconomic is no longer acceptable. If we are to meet the targets, local governments are collectively going to have to push harder to bring about changes.

So, Sustainability Commission, "let's walk the talk" and have a comprehensive recycling scheme in Brighton and Hove as described by your convenor.
