At just 24.5 inches from ground to shoulder, Wonky Tonks the chestnut stallion is Britain's smallest horse.

He is the pride and joy of owner Tikki Adorian, who has been breeding miniature horses at her farm in West Sussex for almost 20 years.

Ms Adorian said: "He is such a sweet little thing. I just adore him.

"My whole life has been devoted to horses and I find miniature ponies very attractive creatures to have around.

"I've really enjoyed putting them on the map in this country."

Seven-year-old Wonky Tonks received his title three years ago straight from the horse's mouth - the Guinness Book of Records - and still holds the to spot.

And he is not Ms Adorian's only record breaker.

The pony Countess Natushka held the title of the smallest horse in the world until she lost it to an American rival in 1994.

Wonky Tonks is one of 70 miniature horses at Howick Farm, near Billingshurst.

They share fields with two llamas and a family of four pygmy goats.

Ms Adorian has bred more than 1,000 foals during her career and last year one of her proteges, Ice Fantasy, won the Horse of the Year Show.

They have made several appearances on television, including GMTV, The Big Breakfast, Record Breakers, Blue Peter, and in the film Black Beauty.

When Wonky Tonks isn't eating hay and having his mane groomed, the champion helps entertain visitors at the farm, which is open to the public.
