A new "rich list" has revealed an affluence gap between East and West Worthing.

The survey, published by Barclays, placed West Worthing 335th in a nationwide table of high earners. East Worthing was only 370th.

The list of 569 areas calculated affluence based on the percentage of people earning more than £60,000 in the constituency.

In West Worthing, 2.1 per cent of the population were on high wages while the East Worthing figure was 1.9 per cent.

The final placings were influenced by West Worthing including the affluent areas of Ferring and Kingston Gorse, while East Worthing included Lancing and Shoreham.

Horsham came in at number 57 with six per cent, Arundel and South Downs at 66 with 5.7 per cent and Mid Sussex at 85 with five per cent.

Hastings was the lowest-scoring constituency in Sussex, managing a figure of 1.7 per cent for 410th slot.
