An Indian restaurant hopes to boost a Sussex soccer squad's fortunes by treating them to a free curry after every win.

Pagham FC have struck a sponsorship deal with the Bombay Restaurant, Bognor - and managers hope the spicy link-up will help inspire the lads to victory next season.

But they are worried about the possible penalty and have issued a warning not to let the deal go to their waistlines.

Chefs at the restaurant in Station Road have even cooked up a special celebration dish to mark the tie-up - and it's called the Pagham Win-daloo.

The Bombay is a favourite with the Sussex County League division one team, who play at Nyetimber Lane.

Manager Paul Gilbert said: "I can see one or two players putting on a bit of weight if they keep winning and tucking into meals at the Bombay.

"That's all right, though - we can always put them through extra training sessions."

Striker Darren King said the sponsorship deal would give him an even bigger incentive for success this season.

He said: "I love Indian food and the odd pint of Indian lager, too. I can't think of a better bonus than a tasty meal after a hard-fought game."

Restaurant manager Manik Miah said the win-daloo had been created as the perfect post-match curry.

He sad: "It won't be as hot as a vindaloo but it will be nice and spicy.

"We have a keen interest in football and always welcome the players of local clubs. We're delighted to be helping out."

Pagham chairman Graham Peach said the team would be proud to wear shirts with the Bombay name and logo on them.

He said: "It's a lovely touch that the chefs are creating this new dish in our honour. As long as the lads don't expect a half-time samosa instead of oranges."
