It's refreshing to see a newspaper that isn't afraid to print articles involving controversial subjects.

By this I mean the sport of clay-pigeon shooting. The article about gold medal winner Charlotte Kerwood (The Argus, August 2) was a breath of fresh air compared to the minute clips here and there in the tabloids and next to no coverage from the BBC.

I don't know why it bothered putting cameras at the shooting site at Bisley. It only showed a few seconds and, quite frankly, that's a waste of licence-payers' money.

Many people from all walks of life in Sussex enjoy clay-pigeon shooting as much as any sport but due to tragic events such as Dunblane and Hungerford, the sport does not receive the recognition it deserves.

Thanks to talented youngsters such as Charlotte and the willingness of The Argus to publish what seems to be forbidden news, I hope many more people will look at clay-pigeon shooting as an acceptable form of entertainment.
