Residents in east Brighton are being urged to keep diaries of nuisance behaviour in a bid to stop the teenage tearaways.

The diary sheets are handed to council and community leaders and the worst offenders could be threatened with eviction if their families are council tenants.

Leaders of eb4u, the Government scheme to regenerate the area, are attempting to identify young people and families destroying communities with antisocial behaviour.

One group of residents told the monthly Whitehawk Crime Prevention Forum meeting there were 30 residents in their part of the estate monitoring nuisance youngsters.

Neighbourhood warden teams working on the estate are also mapping the positions of CCTV cameras so they can tell officers which camera to use to focus on trouble when they call police.

Faith Matyszak, vice-chairwoman of the forum, said: "I've got forms which can be filled in for any types of harassment. They don't have to have your personal details on them.

"Please, please tell me and we can get the ball rolling."

Already eb4u has issued large numbers of antisocial behaviour contracts on residents.
