I say thank you to the planning committee for not allowing the phone masts on Enterprise Point.

To say this building is close to the school my children attend is an understatement. In fact, the building backs on to the playground.

I wrote to oppose this application immediately on hearing about it, as did many others, and a petition was raised by the school as well.

I received a polite letter from Vodafone which advised me there were already two masts up so what was the problem?

The problem was we didn't even know they were there because Vodafone didn't need permission for those ones.

It was proposing to erect a further four masts, a cabin and the like, bringing the number of masts to six.

I am not an expert, just a worried mum. It is said the long-term effects of the dangers of these masts will not be known for many years.

I don't know about you but I don't want to find, in 20 years, my children and others have been made ill because the phone companies made an error in favour of money-making.

I am not prepared to take a chance with my children's health so people can get a better signal.
