It was unfortunate Cherie Blair gave tacit support to those who organise and undertake suicide bombing.

As a Palestinian living in Britain, I absolutely condemn such actions, which do nothing to assist the situation in the Middle East or improve conditions for my people. When Mrs Blair made the comment, she was at a fund-raising event for Palestinians with the Queen of Jordan, who herself gives similar support to suicide bombers by way of Jordanian television. In fact, television and governments throughout almost the entire Arab world praise these so-called martyrs.

Israel is only about one-quarter of Palestine. Three-quarters of Palestine were given to Emir Abdullah in 1921 by Winston Churchill and renamed "Transjordan" by the British. This effectively created a large, Arab Palestinian state, with Emir Abdullah, the son of the Sherif of Mecca, as its head. The present King of Jordan is the great-grandson of Abdullah and a descendant of the Hashemite family of the Hejaz. This family had no

connection with Jordan and Palestine and effectively has deprived the Palestinian people of its homeland, the major part of Palestine. It was the Hashemite rulers of Jordan who killed and expelled tens of thousands of Palestinians in 1970, resulting in the situation we see today.

Did the Queen of Jordan conveniently forget to mention these facts at her meeting with Mrs Blair? It seems many of the leaders of the Arab world live in a perpetual state of amnesia.
