The sour tone of Voice of The Argus ("Culture divide", June 15) is a reminder of the offence The Argus caused many readers last year with spiteful remarks towards those who disagreed with the elected mayor proposal.

Nigel Baker (Letters, June 18) diagnoses correctly that The Argus has a problem with opposition. Perhaps this is the intolerance that causes the false assumption that it is the same members of the "band of no-hopers" who oppose each proposal.
