Having purchased a 1967 edition of the Evening Argus at a jumble sale, I found the headline and side feature quite ironic.

It was about the devaluation of the pound and ability of Harold Wilson and the Labour Party to run the country.

The French foreign minister went on to state his strong objections to Britain joining the Common Market because of our "shaky" economy, the irony being now the boot is on the other foot we are bosom buddies.
