Wall-crawling, web-slinging, tingling spidersense abilities are now at your fingertips.

This is possible as the inevitable game tie-in for the imminent Spider-

Man movie bursts on to a PlayStation2 console near you.

Activision has put some effort into this enjoyable game.

The plot follows the movie storyline fairly closely so it would be churlish to disclose the details.

The graphics are impressively fluid and the control system (well explained in the training levels and given the benefit of actor Bruce Campbell's quips), soon becomes second nature.

The game really comes alive during the fabulous, free-roaming missions that find the arachnid wunderkind among the rooftops of New York slugging it out with the bad guys in fine style. The ability to fight while swinging allows for some spectacular action.

However, when it comes to interior missions, which require Metal Gear Solid-style stealth or out-and-out butt-kicking, the proceedings take a slight dip.

Hampered by a lack of freedom, old Spidey finds himself stuck in a fairly average platformer.

That said, there are enough moments of fullon swinging action to make you want to carry on and there are plenty of bonuses, secrets and minigames to ensure there will be only one superhero in your house for months to come.
