I am absolutely disgusted that South Central is cutting the 08:18 to London Victoria (The Argus, May 8).

The train is currently full to capacity prior to its arrival at Victoria.

Combining the passengers from this train with the 08:14 Thameslink will result in an unbearably overcrowded service all the way from Brighton.

The decision to give the monopoly of London-to-Brighton services to Govia will inevitably result in more cost-cutting measures, to the detriment of the suffering passenger.

The goal of South Central appears to be to run as few trains as possible, ensuring the maximum discomfort to its captive customers who have no other way of commuting into London.
