A 47-year-old woman was pulled from her vehicle by two carjackers in a supermarket car park.
She was parking her Nissan Primera at Tesco in the Holmbush Centre, Shoreham, when two men approached her.
One tried to get into the passenger seat, ignoring her pleas to leave her alone.
The second ordered her to get out of the car and pulled her from the vehicle by the arm.
Both men got into the car and drove off, leaving the woman standing in the car park. Police have not named her.
One of the men was white, of medium height, with a long, thin face with acne marks. He was wearing a light coloured T-shirt.
The other was white, had a big nose and stubble on his chin and was taller than the first man. He was wearing a dark coat.
Anyone with information about the attack, which took place on Saturday at 7.45pm, is asked to call PC Sarah Power on 0845 6070999.
