If you look under the mountain of promotion surrounding the festival, you can find some real gems.
People Who Don't Do Dinner Parties is one such jewel.
Four thesps brave many wigs and costume changes to realise 18 characters typical of the human debris who inhabit a seedy London nightclub.
The sharp dialogue is interspersed with Talking Heads-style monologues through which the characters reveal the reality of life in the dance lane.
This is the writing debut of acclaimed Brighton-based director Guy Picot, who also stars.
It also features a rare spot of straight acting from Brighton funnyman and Live TV exile Glen Richardson.
Clea Smith and Hellen Ward, two of Brighton's finest comedy actresses, complete the cast.
There are many funny shows in this year's festival and this is one of the best.
It's on May 7, 12, 17, 20 and 25. Tickets £7.50/£6 on the door or from 01273 647100.
