A Mid Sussex village's annual fair was voted a big hit by crowds of visitors.
Cuckfield's ceremonial mayor Katie Stewart, who was elected last October, opened the Cuckoo fair.
The attractions included a dog show, football, a chance to fling custard pies at friends and a metal detecting event run by Cuckfield Museum.
Curator Frances Stenlake said: "We had the Cuckfield Historical Searchers come along and do a treasure hunt.
"They had two blue sand pits filled with wood shavings and old coins. Each child went away with a coin.
"It was great because although these items are of no great value, each child came away with something and a huge smile. They really got something for their 30p."
Each stall holder had to pay £10 and all money raised will go to local causes.
