Skilled craftsmen and women are being sought for one of the most prestigious names in motoring.
For years, Rolls-Royce has conjured up images of the heights of opulence and luxury.
Despite this quintessential English firm now being owned by Germany, its new Sussex assembly line will ensure the fine tradition continues.
Gaining a name like Rolls-Royce was quite a coup for Sussex, which is not part of the country's motor manufacturing heartland. We must therefore not just welcome it but embrace it.
However, we also want as many local people as possible to be employed by the firm, especially in the specialist leather and wood shops.
The Chichester area already has a certain renown in these fields through its boat building. This expertise should be called upon wherever applicable.
The new cars which should be rolling out next year will effectively be carrying "made in Sussex" tags. We want them to be "made by Sussex" as well.
