Eastbourne Eagles parade a new-look line-up for tomorrow night's clash with Elite League champions Oxford.

The Sussex squad go into the match at Arlington Stadium with only Mark Loram and Savalas Clouting retaining their places.

The rest of the team which has taken the league by storm this season gets a Jon Cook-style shake-up.

The Eastbourne boss has been forced to act seven weeks into the title-chasing campaign by the first set of revised averages.

Toni Svab, who has fired Eagles to match-winning displays at Peterborough and Oxford, wins promotion to the team, while David Norris drops down to a reserve berth.

Stefan Andersson and Dean Barker swap places, with Andersson moving up to a heat-leader position and Barker going to second string.

It all appears fairly traumatic for a team flying high on the back of eight wins in ten matches.

Master manipulator Cook has also switched skipper Joe Screen from the No. 5 spot to the No. 3 race jacket.

He explained: "We could have kept Deano and Stefan together as a pairing, but I wanted to change things and split Mark and Joe up in heat 13."

Strangely, Eastbourne's big guns have not set matches alight in what is generally considered to be the top race on the card.

Cook has a theory about that. "They are both searching for the same part of land."

It means now that Loram will team up with Andersson in the big 13 race.

"The idea is to try to pair a gater with a racer. In their case, I feel that Stefan is a trapper, whereas Mark isn't."

Cook is keen to give his new partnerships an airing ahead of next Thursday's TV showdown with rival championship contenders Wolves.

"We are not under-estimating Oxford, but we are very focused on the match against Wolverhampton. That is a massive match."

Eastbourne's meteoric start to the season is reflected in the new averages.

While Clouting stays on the base limit of three points, the rest of the team, including Norris, have all upped their figures from the start of the year.

The biggest mover is Screen from 7.21 up to 8.18.

Andersson is up to 7.39 from 6.79, Svab 6.67 from 6.17, Loram 8.57 from 8.15, Barker 7.24 from 6.90 and Norris 6.51 from 6.47.

Cook believes having Norris at reserve will be a huge boost for Eagles in Arlington matches.

"At the moment, David is a bit of an Achilles heel for us away, but having him at reserve for home matches will be a tremendous bonus."

Eagles will be chasing their third league double of the season against Oxford after winning the away leg 47-43.

The Cheetahs include Leigh Adams, who scored 14 points as a guest for Belle Vue against Eastbourne last week and is currently No. 2 in the Elite League ratings with a 10.20 average, and Steve Johnston, runner-up in the recent Championship of Sussex.

Eastbourne: Mark Loram, Toni Svab, Joe Screen, Dean Barker, Stefan Andersson, Savalas Clouting, David Norris.

Oxford: Brian Andersen, Lukas Dryml, Steve Johnston, Ales Dryml, Leigh Adams, Mark Lemon, Andrew Appleton.

The start is at 7.30pm.
