Rock band WildKatz are gearing up for the busiest month of their career, which will see them supporting Oasis as they play to thousands in venues across Europe.

The band, formerly the Railing Staines, are taking their retro brand of rock 'n' roll overseas before a showcase at the home of the UK's rhythm and blues explosion.

Singer Bob Ward, who serenaded Blind Date's Cilla Black during a recording trip to Barbados, said the group were practising all hours in preparation for the mini-tour.

He said: "We're working like we've never worked before."

The tour kicks off on Tuesday with a show at HMS Dryad in Portsmouth.

On May 11, the five-piece is performing at a bikers' festival at Shoreham airport and playing a selection of classic Rolling Stones tracks along with their own material.

On May 16, they fly out to Germany where they play two dates for 60,000 servicemen at the Rhine Army Summer Show.

Oasis, Stereophonics and Travis are mooted as the headline act for the May 19 show.

They will be accompanied on the trip by legendary producer Charlie Skarbeck, who has worked with everyone from Sir Cliff Richard to Dame Shirley Bassey.

Then the group returns to the Eel Pie Club in Twickenham for a sold-out showcase gig alongside The Kinks and Mott The Hoople on May 22.

WildKatz have also been signed to headline at a major international sporting event next year which could see their brand of rock viewed by a global TV audience of up to 150 million.

Four tickets to the sold-out Twickenham show are available to anyone who can tell Bob which Rolling Stones star's son played rhythm guitar with the group for six months last year.
