An office worker who was sacked five days after she gave birth to a stillborn child has won her legal action against her former bosses.

Danielle Pellett said she was delighted to win her case for sexual discrimination and unfair dismissal at an employment tribunal.

Ms Pellett, 22, of Chyngton Road, Seaford, made the claim against William Peters and Sons, an office equipment company in Lewes.

The amount of compensation she will receive from the firm will be decided by the tribunal at a later date.

Ms Pellett, an administration clerk, was sacked in March last year, five days after her son Oliver was born four months premature.

The company denied treating her unfairly. It said her dismissal had no connection with her pregnancy but was because of her long-term absence record.

The company said it had no idea she had suffered a stillbirth when the decision was made to sack her after she failed to turn up for work.

After the tribunal, Ms Pellett said: "I am very happy. This case was not about money. I did it for Oliver.

"It was awful having to relive it. It was a nightmare. But people have to stand up for themselves, however hard it is. You have to or people walk all over you."
