Albion will not be sorry to see the back of Brentford if the Bees fail to join them in the First Division next season.

They are the only side to have done the double over the Seagulls this season and their supremacy extended to the Reserves last night.

An inexperienced Albion line-up lost 2-0 in the Avon Insurance Combination League at Griffin Park.

Albion included Lee Gardner, a young trialist from Tottenham, at rightback.

Striker Mark McCammon put Brentford in front and substitute Julian Charles made sure of the points after Albion keeper Will Packham had pushed a penalty onto a post.

Replacements Rupert Sansom, Adam Hinshelwood and Daniel Marney all had a run out in the second half at the expense of Gardner, Phill Hadland and David Lee.

Hadland's future will be decided at the end of the season following his recent move from Leyton Orient.

Albion Reserves: Packham; Gardner, Rowland, Virgo, Hemsley, Hadland, Hammond, Wilkinson, Wojciechowski, McPhee, Lee. Subs: Sansom, Hinshelwood, Marney.
