I have followed reports in the media about the Sussex students who went to the West Bank to sympathise with victims of violence.

Surely their message of sympathy should have also been extended to the many innocent Israeli victims of Palestinian suicide bombers?

In their foolhardy pursuit of peace, those students chose to disregard British Foreign Office recommendations not to visit the area, disregarded Israeli instructions to keep out of the fighting zone and, instead, sought to shake the hand of the Palestinian leader Yassir Arafat, who encourages and trains suicide bombers - not a trip to be proud of by any standard.
