There is an easy way to avoid having to pay residents' parking fees or buy a pay-and-display ticket - just double park.
The wardens won't do anything as you are not on a double yellow line and the police ignore it because they have more important business to attend to.
In fact, when I called the police, they told me it was not illegal. People do it all the time on The Drive and have never received a ticket.
So save yourself some money and take advantage.
