A woman has died after the car she was in careered off a Sussex road and plunged into a ditch.
No other vehicles were involved in the accident on Firle Road at Chalvington, near Polegate, at 11.12am yesterday.
The 67-year-old Hampshire woman was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital with serious head injuries and has since died.
Police want to hear from anyone who saw the Vauxhall Astra hatchback before the accident as it travelled south along Firle Road or who witnessed it leaving the road.
They particularly want to speak to one of the first people on the scene who was a former police officer.
