Our thoughts must be with the family of Sussex cricketer Umer Rashid who have lost two of their sons.

Umer, 26, a leading light in the Sussex County Cricket squad, and his 18-year-old brother Burhan died in a swimming accident in Grenada during the club's pre-season tour of the Caribbean island.

It appears Burhan got into difficulty at the Concord Falls, a popular tourist swimming spot, and Umer went to his aid, sacrificing his own life in the process.

It is a tragedy not only because they were both young men with their whole lives ahead of them but also because Umer was a talented and popular player with staff and supporters of the club he had been with since 1999.

His loss comes just weeks after the death of 24-year-old England star Ben Hollioake in a car crash in Australia.

A family has been robbed of two sons and the world of cricket has been robbed of two talented and popular players who would have contributed so much to their sport in years to come.
