I agree with Vicki Stubbs (Letters, March 26). I object to the 11.4 per cent rise in council tax and shall be paying under protest.

This is typical of a Labour council, which couldn't manage a booze-up in a brewery. It wastes money on stupid projects and demands the taxpayer foots the overspend.

I expect councillors will award a substantial pay increase to themselves, well above the rate of inflation - not like the pensioners with an increase of about £3 or £4, half of which is taken up by council tax increase.

The worst day for Hove was when it was hijacked by Brighton, irrespective of the views of the citizens of Hove, who voted by 75 per cent

to remain unattached to Brighton. Unlike Brighton, Hove could manage its finances proficiently and not get into debt.
