Dan Collard and I met more than two years ago, when we first worked together at a local call-centre.
Months later, I left and, eventually, Dan left too but we still kept in touch.
He only lived down the road from me and used to come over or we would go out to the pub together.
Dan was many things - kind, sweet, generous, honest and gentle. He wasn't violent or aggressive - he was a real sweetheart.
Dan was always friendly and would help anybody. He was the nicest guy you could ever hope to have as a friend.
He would always talk to me about how much he loved and cared for both his brother and his mum.
Dan will never be forgotten and will always be loved and missed by all his friends and family.
What has happened is terrible. Like most of his friends, I just feel confused, saddened and angry.
