Charges at a council car park are to rise by up to 100 per cent.
The increases at Hove Town Hall car park in Norton Road have been agreed by councillors, despite objections from some motorists.
They have been increased to keep prices in line with on-street car parking nearby.
Short-term parking will remain the same but the 80p charge for up to four hours will rise to £1 and the daily charge of £1.20 will go up by 50 per cent to £1.80.
Season ticket charges will double from £150 to £300.
A new charge of £1.20 will be introduced for parking up to five hours to enable part-time workers to use the car park at a reasonable charge.
Tory councillor Ted Kemble said the all-day charge was going up a lot but another Conservative councillor, Pat Drake, said: "The charges are very reasonable."
