This is how Bobby Zamora could look playing in an all-black kit for Albion in the First Division next season.

The Seagulls have plumped for a new away kit of all black for the 2002-2003 campaign.

Manufacturers Errea are already working on the design, which will be available to fans in the summer.

Albion are not the first club to opt for colours formerly associated only with referees. Manchester United wore black away from Old Trafford a couple of seasons ago.

Seagulls supporters also had a sneak preview of how their heroes will look in the new strip when Huddersfield played at Withdean last month.

Albion are sticking to their traditional blue and white stripes for home matches next season, although the design will be updated.

The Seagulls badge is likely to return at the expense of the Brighton and Hove crests adopted for the special centenary kit.

The shorts will stay white, but the socks are scheduled to change from blue to white.

Albion will also be marketing a third strip of all red and Skint Records are expected to continue as shirt sponsors.

Brighton's cult record company became sponsors when the Seagulls moved back to the city from Gillingham two seasons ago.

Norman Cook, alias DJ Fatboy Slim, is Skint's biggest artist and a lifelong Albion fan.

Chairman Dick Knight announced last summer that Cook had put "significant money" into the club. He has also helped fund the bid to buy out former chairman Bill Archer.

Meanwhile, the short-term future of today's opponents Bury has been secured by a ruling at the High Court in Manchester yesterday.

The Shakers have until April 26 to find new owners and Matt Dunham, Matt Dunham, a partner with the club's joint administrators RSM Robson Rhodes, believes a buyer can be found.

"We've been delighted with the response so far and we've got a number of parties very interested in the club," he said.

Albion's under-17 match against Brentford at Sussex University this morning has been postponed.
