Michael Alldis has urged Sussex fight fans to roar him to victory at Crawley Leisure Centre on Monday.

Alldis takes on Scotsman Brian Carr for the British and Commonwealth super-bantamweight titles and he is hoping home town support will spur him to victory.

Alldis said: "Being at home I know it know it will bring the best out of me. The more screams and shouts I hear will help me."

It will be an emotional night for the 33-year-old from Crawley who lost his British crown last May on a controversial points decision to Patrick Mullings, who was subsequently stripped of the title for failing a drugs test.

As well as trying to regain the now vacant British title, he will also be bidding to win the Lonsdale belt outright and will be looking to claim Carr's Commonwealth crown.

Fighting in his home town, where he has never been beaten, will help Alldis although a tight points victory over Miguel Matthews in Crawley seven years ago will serve as a warning to him.

Alldis said: "I learnt with Miguel Matthews it can spur you on too much if you are not careful. I stood there that night listening to the crowd.

"I am more of a disciplined fighter now. I know what I have to do. The crowd will spur me on."

Tickets, priced £20 and £30, can be obtained from the Hawth box office on 01293 553636.

Also on the bill, Crawley welterweight Lee Minter taking on Hartlepool's Andrew Close in his second professional bout.
