In reply to Paul Zara (Letters, March 11), I am proud to say I have protested against all the things he wants so badly because I do not see endless development as a form of progress and because there is so little democracy when it comes to planning decisions.
Even when a clear majority opposes a new development, we must have it because it's good for jobs, the council and uses the legal means to get these things built.
Any journey around the Brighton and Hove area reveals empty shops and office space in abundance. Especially note the prime, yet empty, new development by the Palace Pier.
Why do we need more? Please take your city by the sea and its white elephants elsewhere.
A growing number of people want a sustainable community in harmony with nature and will keep protesting until they get it.
