Albion boss Peter Taylor is weighing up whether to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline.

He has scope for one more loan signing by March 28 to boost the final push for promotion following the capture of Junior Lewis from Leicester for the rest of the season.

Taylor said: "It's a close call. It depends how we go before deadline day.

"If I think we might need something else then I should take advantage of it, but it has got to be the right one.

"I am not a great lover of deadline day loans, because sometimes there is a little bit of panic.

"When I was a player you used to take six months to get settled into a team. If you sign somebody with about four weeks to go they have to be an instant hit, so it's a dangerous one."

Taylor's interest in Notts County's former Reading midfielder Darren Caskey has cooled since Albion hammered Wycombe 4-0 at home last week.

Caskey is more likely instead to be playing against the Seagulls for County at Withdean a week on Saturday.

"At the moment nothing is going to happen with that one," Taylor revealed. "I always said I was going to look at the next few matches and the one I looked at was Wycombe.

"It's only me that is going to open that one up and I've got no plans to do anything."

Bobby Zamora needs one more goal to set another club record against beleaguered Bury at Withdean on Saturday. No Albion player has scored 30 in a season more than once.

Zamora hit 31 last season and he headed his 29th of the campaign in Tuesday's 4-0 home victory against Northampton.

Bury are only two points and two places above Northampton at the bottom and Taylor expects them to offer similar resistance.

"If anybody goes into the game thinking it will be comfortable they will get a surprise," he warned. "I saw Bury at Wycombe recently and they played very well.

"They really impressed me with their football, so it's going to be another game like Northampton."

Four hundred tickets returned by Bury were snapped up quickly yesterday by Albion fans.
