Count Eric Stenbock was a flamboyant figure more than a century ago who was typical of Brighton.
A poet and gay society playboy, he was a friend both of Oscar Wilde and WB Yeats.
But he has been largely forgotten and his tomb in Brighton Extra Mural Cemetery is in danger of disintegrating.
A campaign has now been started to restore both the tomb and its immediate setting in the hillside cemetery.
No doubt the count, who appreciated beauty, would have been proud to inhabit a tomb with a view.
