I can answer Ann Wilcocks' inquiry about the round discs in the pavement in the centre of Brighton and Hove (Letters, March 9).
The discs form part of the "circuit touristique", the idea being that people following them will be taken past the main sights of the city.
The route extends from the station to the beach. A similar circuit exists in Dieppe because this was a joint venture between the two councils.
Information boards explaining this are now in place and there are leaflets available from libraries and the Visitor Information Centre.
I was told the little birdie emblem is a seagull. They are certainly a talking point with visitors, who usually ask what they are.
