A thug punched a 13-year-old boy in the face and demanded money outside a Crawley school.
The boy was walking past St Wilfrid's School in Southgate, Crawley, when the offender, who was aged 13 or 14, grabbed him.
He left empty-handed as the victim did not have any money.
Police are keen to trace a boy who helped the victim after the attack, which happened on Monday at 4.10pm.
He was of African appearance and is thought to go to St Wilfrid's.
