A council looks set to move a desk away from a window to stop sunlight bothering its staff - after six months of discussion.
Staff manning the tourist desk at Burgess Hill Town Council's help point had been sitting with their backs to the sun and complained about the heat and the glare on their computer screens.
Councillors last night agreed at a special meeting to extend an existing counter on the other side of the room.
But their decision, taken at a committee meeting, will still have to be passed on to the full council for a final decision.
The work will cost just over £5,000 because a phone point for the computers and phones also needs to be moved.
Coun Gill Balsdon said: "We have decided to extend the existing counter but at a lower level and that is going to be the new tourism section.
"It also means we meet disabled employee criteria by having a lower desk."
In total there were five different options ranging in price from £300 to £7,000.
They included installing computer-controlled screens, treating the glass with solar reflective film and putting up internal or external blinds.
